Jazz Greats

The greatest jazz musicians, Louis Armstrong, 1901 -1971, was born and raised in New Orleans.  Miles Davis, 1926 - 1991 grew up in East St. Louis.  His father was a wealthy dentist.

Charlie Parker, 1915 -1959 spent his childhood in Kansas City, Missouri.  And Billie Holiday, 1915 - 1959 was born in Baltimore, MD, surely make up the list of Jazz Greats

Ornette Coleman a saxophonist composer and bandleader in the 1930s spent his childhood in Fort Worth Texas.  Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and many more are also considered Jazz Greats.
